LIG Nex1 Co. said on Friday that it has signed an agreement with the Naval Logistics Command for the Maritime Surveillance Radar-II project, which was selected as a pilot project supervised by the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea.

The project is a performance-based logistical support project that reflects the results of performing the defense reliability, availability, maintainability, and cost (RAM-C) test for the first time in the entire military.

It replaces the existing obsolete radars and monitors the seas 24 hours a day for threatening targets penetrating at medium and high altitudes.

With this project, the Navy is expected to maintain maritime surveillance at all times with the best combat readiness and a stable rate of equipment operation. Uncertain factors such as parts discontinuation, rise in unit price, and shortage of semiconductor chips can be systematically managed in advance.

It is expected that there will be effects such as a reduction in maintenance costs and a shortening of maintenance period in the case of equipment failure.

"As a defense contractor, we will fulfill our mission and successfully promote our business based on our accumulated experience and technology," said an official of LIG Nex1.
