South Korea’s chemicals-to-defense conglomerate Hanwha Group plans to showcase its cutting-edge technology, specifically those applied to homegrown space rocket Nuri, and its urban air mobility (UAM) concepts at the upcoming Paris Air Show, the world's largest aerospace exhibition, as disclosed by the company on Friday.

Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Systems, affiliates of the Hanwha Group, are scheduled to participate in the renowned event from June 19 to 25 at Paris Le Bourget Airport, France.

The companies will manage a combined exhibition booth where they will display their defense technologies and futuristic mobility strategies.

One of the main attractions in the Space Zone will be a presentation on the Hyper-connected Defense Solution, a comprehensive system designed to provide real-time updates on land, sea and air battle scenarios through a low-orbit communications satellite network.

The exhibit will also feature a model of Nuri, South Korea's first domestically developed rocket, which recently accomplished the noteworthy feat of launching a functional satellite into orbit. This display highlights Korea's rapidly advancing space capabilities.

The Air Mobility Zone will host Hanwha Systems' introduction of the Butterfly, an UAM developed in collaboration with Overair, a US-based company. Hanwha Systems aims to finish the production of a UAM prototype by the end of this year, with plans to commence unmanned flight tests in the US in the early months of the following year.

Additionally, Hanwha will use the Air Zone platform to exhibit advanced defense technologies such as AESA radar that can simultaneously detect and track multiple targets, and electronic optical/infrared surveillance reconnaissance sensors designed for unmanned aerial vehicles.

Kim Dong Kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group, is also expected to visit the trade show while in Paris for the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

"We are committed to actively promoting the global recognition of Korea's space, aviation and defense industries and seek to broaden our opportunities for international business cooperation,"  CEO of Hanwha Aerospace Son Jae-il declared.

"We aim to demonstrate the comprehensive capabilities of Hanwha's entire space industry value chain and the technological innovations that are poised to drive future mobility changes," CEO of Hanwha Systems Eoh Sung-chul added.
