South Korea's Hyundai Rotem Co. said on Monday it signed an agreement with the Peruvian Army to supply K2 main battle tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground weapon systems.

The agreement was formalized on November 16 at a ceremony in Lima, attended by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte.

Hyundai Rotem CEO Lee Yong-bae and Jorge Zapata, head of the Peruvian Army Weapons and Ammunition Factory (FAME), signed the deal.

The agreement outlines the overall scale and volume of the Peruvian Army’s weapons procurement project, with subsequent contracts expected to define delivery schedules, training programs, and maintenance requirements.

Hyundai Rotem entered the Latin American defense market in May by securing a contract to supply wheeled armored vehicles.

The armored vehicles, set to be exported to Peru for the first time, feature advanced mobility capabilities designed for rapid troop transport in diverse combat environments.

Since its development in 2003, Hyundai Rotem has delivered over 500 units to the South Korean Army.
