Korean Air Lines Co. announced on Monday that it will expand codeshare operations with Canada's WestJet Airlines.

Korean Air will sell flights operated by WestJet as Korean Air flights on the new Incheon-Calgary route launching on May 17.

Calgary is one of Canada's major cities, serving as a gateway to Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains.

WestJet will sell flights operated by Korean Air from Incheon to Bangkok, Singapore, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Hong Kong under its flight numbers.

Codeshare involves airlines selling seats on each other's flights under their flight numbers, benefiting from expanded flight options.

Passengers who book codeshare flights operated by Korean Air will receive reservation and ticketing services from Korean Air, and they can also earn SkyPass mileage.

Korean Air and WestJet Airlines have expanded their codeshare routes since June 2012. With this latest expansion, the number of routes operated jointly by the two airlines will increase to 36.
