South Korea's Riiid, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based provider of educational solutions, on Monday said it has launched R.test, an AI diagnostic platform for students worldwide preparing for the US university entrance exams Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and ACT.

The R.test comprises a full-version mock test with 150 questions identical to a real exam and a mini-version of 30 questions using AI.

When test-takers answer practice questions, AI analyzes the results and produces a personalized report that lists learning status, test habits and expected scores. Afterwards, R.test uses AI to suggest areas for improvement and has students solve carefully selected questions, Riiid said.

The company called R.test the first service to prepare for the new digital SAT taken via computer. This high-tech format will debut next year in the US but other countries like South Korea will adopt it this year.

Unlike the paper-based SAT, Riiid said, it developed an AI-based question recommendation system for the digital version, whose problem difficulty depends on a test-taker's ability.

A ChatGPT-utilizing function will be added to R.test. Riiid will also develop solutions to help students prepare for essays in Advanced Placement courses for release in the second half of the year.

On Saturday, Riiid will hold an invitational briefing session for parents on the digital SAT and R.test at its headquarters in the Samseong-dong neighborhood of southern Seoul's Gangnam District.

"Through domestic and global launches this year, we plan to fully take on the US digital SAT market next year through advancement of AI data," said Riiid CEO Jang Young-jun.
