Hyundai Motor Group said on Thursday that it won awards in two categories, "Instant Icon of the Year" and "Manufacturer of the Year," at the 2022 TopGear Awards organized by TopGear, a British motor magazine and TV program.

TopGear picked Hyundai's concept car N Vision 74 as the most popular vehicle of the year and Kia as the automaker of the year, respectively.

The N Vision 74 is a hydrogen hybrid rolling lab (moving laboratory) unveiled by Hyundai's high-performance brand N in July this year.

A rolling lab refers to a vehicle designed to carry out R&D and verification before implementing high-performance motorsport-inspired technology into a mass-production model. It was rooted in the concept design of the Pony Coupe, which was unveiled in 1974 but never reached mass production.

A hybrid system combining a battery motor with a hydrogen fuel cell has been developed to achieve maximum synergy performance, such as a maximum output of 500 kW, maximum torque of 900 Nm, maximum speed of 250km/h, and a mileage of 600 km on a single charge.

TopGear commented, "Through the N Vision 74, we could get a glimpse of Hyundai's past designs and the driving force behind the development of future high-performance vehicles."

Meanwhile, Kia launched several eco-friendly models such as the EV6 GT, Sportage, and Niro in Europe and was given credit as having gained a successful response in the market, and was designated as a brand that would lead the EV era.
