The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced on Wednesday the opening of the "2023 K-Product Trade Show & G-Fair in Tokyo" at the Tokyo International Forum Exhibition Hall.

The event showcases a variety of premium products from Korean companies in sectors such as beauty, living, food, digital and health.

The two-day event, concluding on May 11, follows to South Korea-Japan summit meetings and aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

KITA selected a total of 104 domestic companies, recommended by seven local governments, including Gyeonggi Province, Incheon City, and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, to participate.

These companies connected with 650 major Japanese retail and import companies, including prominent businesses such as Don Quijote, Laox, Nitori and Rakuten.

Due to improving South Korea-Japan relations and the recent resumption of shuttle diplomacy, participation in this year's exhibition increased by 21% compared to the previous year, while pre-registered Japanese buyers saw a 35% increase.

"Based on the experience of cooperation in various industries between the two countries, the economic exchange between the two countries should be further activated and expanded," said KITA chairman Koo Ja-yeol at the opening ceremony.

"We will expand marketing and business exchange opportunities so that the cooperative atmosphere, such as South Korea-Japan summit meetings, can be connected to the reactivation of trade between the two countries," he added.
