South Korea’s homegrown software giant Hangul and Computer Group, also known as Hancom Inc. Group, is slated to transform itself into a cloud and artificial intelligence services provider, the firm said in its first-half 2022 letter to shareholders on Sept. 6.
The company said it will focus on empowering customers by addressing their cloud-related demands.
The firm is planning to improve its document management software by using AI, as well as strengthen its collaboration with global Software as a Service (SaaS) companies, according to the letter.
Hancom will also modularize application programming interface (API), a way for two or more computer programs to communicate with each other, and software development kits (SDKs), a collection of software development tools in an installable package, and apply them to AI services such as robotic process automation (RPA).
The Korean software company closed a partnership with Samsung SDS Co., Samsung Group’s tech services provider, on Sept. 5 to develop business-to-business services based on AI technologies.
In addition, Hancom said it will strengthen investment in global tech companies and business collaborations via Hancom Alliance, the Korean firm’s overseas holding company soon to be set up in Singapore.
It will launch Hancom Docs, a cloud-based document management subscription service, a new version of Hancom Typing, a Korean keyboard typing practice software and a metaverse office program for businesses later this year.
Hancom has pledged to improve its corporate governance. The workers enjoy cultural and sports activities on a team basis, join online casual meetings and call their colleagues by their first names rather than by their surnames or job titles.
The company will innovate and restructure its subsidiaries’ portfolios, Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-su said.
