Naver Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Naver Corp., signed a strategic alliance deal with Singapore's telecommunications company StarHub to provide advanced 5G network service in Southeast Asia and cooperate in the development of cloud computing technology, the company said on Tuesday.

StarHub is a Singaporean telecom company that has provided communications, entertainment, and content services to individuals and corporate customers in Southeast Asia for more than 20 years, Naver said.

It has recently embarked on a Cloud Infinity transformation through which it intends to adopt a highly-scalable and access-agnostic hybrid cloud new architecture.

The two companies plan to provide edge cloud computing-based 5G network services and plan to jointly develop ultra-low latency cloud, communications, and entertainment services as part of StarHub's Cloud Infinity program.

Naver Cloud will apply the experience and technology it acquires through the construction of a private 5G network in Naver's new headquarters building "1784" to Singapore's public 5G network.

The two parties also signed a partnership agreement in the field of the managed service provider (MSP), which delivers services, such as network, application, infrastructure, and security, via ongoing and regular support and active administration on customers’ premises.

Naver Cloud will provide technical expertise and resources to StarHub partners so that the latter can strengthen its position as a cloud MSP.

"We will double down on digital to realize growth without frontiers," StarHub CEO Nikhil Eapen said.

"We will continue to actively develop and cooperate with services to secure global competitiveness beyond Southeast Asia," said Park Won-ki, CEO of APAC Business Development at Naver Cloud.
