The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Wednesday that it selected six cities including Indonesia's Jakarta, Vietnam's Hue, the Philippines' Puerto Princesa, Cambodia's Siem Reap, Italy's Verona, and the US New Jersey

The K-City Network, launched in 2020, supports establishing smart city plans by overseas governments and exporting smart city solutions by domestic smart city companies.

This year, six overseas pilot projects were selected through open competition.

Overseas pilot projects support domestic companies to develop services tailored to local needs by demonstrating commercially deployed smart city solutions in overseas cities.

Planning projects to support the establishment of smart city basic concepts master plans and feasibility studies will be selected by the end of June this year.

In Hue, Vietnam, selected for the overseas pilot project, Movements Co. will demonstrate the SmartPin, a multi-underground facility integration marker. This solution converts 2D drawings of underground facilities into 3D to maintain and manage facilities.

In Jakarta, Indonesia, Egis will demonstrate land and real estate management technology using digital twins.

In Puerto Princesa, the Philippines, ESE plans to build a smart city integrated operation center for providing smart disaster and safety management services.

In Siem Reap, Cambodia, BF Labs will attempt a smart mobility-sharing service using an electric bike.

In Verona, Italy, Bit Sensing will demonstrate the next-generation C-ITS traffic control system to solve traffic congestion at urban intersections, while in New Jersey, the US, SK Planet will demonstrate the technology to detect road surface icing accidents by sound.
