South Korea’s DL E&C Co. announced on Wednesday that 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in Türkiye, completed by the company, received the Project of the Year Award from the US Engineering News Record (ENR), a globally recognized construction trade magazine.

In this eleventh year of the annual ENR Global Best Projects Awards, a panel of industry judges selected, among more than 100 entries, 31 winning projects from 23 different countries this year.

1915 Çanakkale Bridge emerged as the winner in the Bridge and Tunnel category, beating out competing projects, and went on to receive the prestigious Global Best Projects Award. Additionally, it was honored with the Project of the Year award among all global best projects in various categories.

DL E&C and SK Ecoplant Co. broke ground on 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in March 2018 and completed it after 48 months of work. With a total length of 3,563 meters, the bridge connects Europe and Asia, featuring the world's longest main span distance between towers (2,023 meters).

The length of the main span determines the degree of the bridge's technical prowess. The Çanakkale Bridge surpassed Japan's Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, the previous record-holder, making it the world's longest suspension bridge.

During the construction process, DL E&C and SK Ecoplant erected the world's tallest towers (334 meters), surpassing iconic structures like the Eiffel Tower (320 meters) and Tokyo Tower (333 meters).

They showcased advanced construction techniques, including the use of the world's highest-strength cables, large-scale anchorages and caissons, and specially crafted airplane wing-shaped decks, highlighting South Korean construction's exceptional technical expertise to the world.
