The new Samsung Smart Monitor M8 is now available for sale in South Korea, Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Sunday.

The product can stream services without being connected to a computer or a TV; and comes with a remote control.

Because of the smart technology, experts say the monitor is made for those who are teleworking or studying online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 32-inch (80 cm) monitor is a UHD panel and boasts a super-slim thickness of 0.45 inches (11.4 mm).

It also comes with a SlimFit Cam, a magnetic camera that can be easily attached onto the monitor or used unattached. The camera has face tracking and automatic zoom-in functions.

The smart monitor is equipped with Samsung Health, a free app developed by the company that offers a variety of fitness programs and tracks a user's physical activity, diet, and sleep.

The magnetic camera can analyze a user’s movement as they follow a tutorial on the app.

Video chat apps like Google Duo are also installed in the monitor for online conference and meeting uses.

Thanks to the Internet of things (IoT) hub function, a user can see the status of all connected devices on one screen.

Earlier this year, Samsung’s monitor lineup, including the M8, received several Honouree awards at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.

From Monday through March 14, the Smart Monitor M8 will be available for sale at 850,000 won ($698) each through the Kakao Makers platform by Kakao Corp.

From March 15 onward, the product will be available for sale on and offline in South Korea.

“The latest product has strengthened the functions that customers need the most,” said Ha Hye-seung, senior vice president at Samsung’s visual display business.
