Major South Korean power plant builder, Doosan Enerbility Co., has entered into a strategic partnership with the world's No. 1 offshore wind power company Siemens Gamesa (SGRE), in a bid to enhance its competitiveness in the offshore wind power sector. The partnership was signed on Tuesday in Hamburg, Germany.

The agreement between the two companies will focus on several key areas, including assembly, construction, and operation & management services for offshore wind power projects, the promotion of domestic parts makers, and the exchange of knowledge and education.

"By leveraging the strengths of both companies in the offshore wind market, we aim to actively participate in the domestic market and revitalize the ecosystem," said Park Hong-wook, head of Doosan Energy Power Service BG.

"Through this partnership, we will bring the world's leading offshore wind power technology, including innovative offshore direct drive nacelle technology, to South Korea. This will not only provide clean energy but also create jobs and attract further investment," said Marc Becker, CEO of SGRE's offshore business.

SGRE, a subsidiary of Siemens Energy in Germany, is a leading player in the global offshore wind power market, offering a range of wind power models from 6-MW direct drives to 14 MW.

Doosan Energy, which began its wind business in 2005, is the largest supplier of offshore wind power in South Korea.
