Korean Air Lines Co. announced on Wednesday that it has been newly included in the 2022 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) Korea announced by Standard & Poor's Global.

DJSI is an indicator that the Dow Jones Index of Standard & Poor's, a financial information provider, and S&P Global Swiss SA, a global sustainable management evaluation agency, evaluate and release companies' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance every year.

The DJSI Korea comprises the top 30% of the 200 largest Korean companies by market capitalization in terms of sustainability.

It is recognized by investors as an accredited benchmark of a company’s commitment to matters related to ESG, as well as industry-specific sustainability trends.

Korean Air also received this year the top grade in relative ESG evaluation in the aviation industry by Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), the world's largest proxy advisor, and has maintained the same top grade in the ISS corporate governance index since 2020.

The national flag carrier has received an integrated A grade for three consecutive years for its ESG efforts from the nonprofit ESG rating agency Korea Corporate Governance Service.

"This shows our efforts to strengthen ESG management were recognized, including the separation of the CEO-board chairman, the establishment of an ESG committee, the introduction of next-generation eco-friendly aircraft, and the transportation of humanitarian relief supplies," said an official of Korean Air.
