South Korea's LS Group said on Thursday that it has partnered with a domestic non-government organization (NGO) Cooperation and Participation in Overseas NGOs (COPION) to open the "LS Dream Center" in Hanoi, Vietnam. The center aims to provide an educational and cultural space to support the employment and education of Korean-Vietnamese families.

The LS Dream Center, located in the center of Hanoi in a four-story building with six program rooms, intends to address the growing need for support. LS Group plans to provide self-reliance capacity strengthening education, family counseling and parent education, and children's education at the center.

President of LS Corp. An Won-hyeong, Ambassador of South Korea to Vietnam Oh Young-ju and COPION Secretary-General Seong Su-yeol attended the opening ceremony.

"LS has been practicing various social contribution activities as a leading company that first entered Vietnam in 1996 in the field of power cables and low-voltage power equipment," An Won-hyeong said. "We sincerely hope that the newly opened LS Dream Center will become a stepping stone for the growth of Korean-Vietnamese families and their second-generation children in the future."

LS Group first entered Vietnam in 1996 with the establishment of LS-VINA, which produces power cables. The group currently operates local production corporations such as LS Cable & Systems Ltd., LS Electric Co., LS Mtron and LS Metal.

E1 Corp. is also planning to build its first overseas LPG refrigerated tank terminal near Haiphong.
