Toray Advanced Materials Korea Inc. announced Wednesday that it attained the AS9120 certification for aerospace industry quality management systems by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG).

The AS9120 certification is an international standard quality management system that guarantees the quality of storage and distribution of aerospace parts.

Toray Advanced Materials reported that it secured the certification by systematizing product safety and risk management and establishing systems reflecting relevant regulations and customer requirements, meeting rigorous assessment criteria.

With this certification, the company plans to contribute to the rapid growth of the domestic aerospace industry by serving as a domestic supply base for Toray Group's aerospace composite materials and solidifying its foundation as a domestic production base.

Toray Group is the top in the global market for carbon fiber composite materials for aircraft. Its carbon fiber composite materials are utilized by leading space program development agencies worldwide.

Toray Advanced Materials began mass production of carbon fiber, opening the era of mass production of carbon fiber in Korea in 2011, and entered the pre-preg business, an intermediate material of carbon fiber, in 2021.

Last year, it started the third carbon fiber line, focusing on advanced industries such as high-pressure vessels, urban air mobility (UAM), aerospace, and wind power generation.
