With tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) drawing attention at home and abroad amid a South Korean food craze worldwide, domestic food company Daesang Corp.’s Chungjungone brand has launched two new related products.

Daesang on Monday introduced the first new tteokbokki products developed in a related project led by its Magok-dong Tteokbokki Institute: spicy and sweet soup and mozzarose.

In December last year, Daesang established the think tank to plan and research tteokbokki products at Daesang Inno Park in Seoul's Magok-dong neighborhood. This R&D place is for researchers who travel across the country in search of good tteokbokki restaurants and marketers who enjoy eating the dish over rice.

“Starting with the release of these two products, we plan to introduce a series of Magok-dong Tteokbokki Institute foods in various flavors that reflect consumer trends,” a Daesang source said. “We can expect synergy with dumplings from Home:ings, our home meal replacement brand.”
