Global investment bank Goldman Sachs said on Monday that it has named managing director Choi Jae-joon as the new chief of its Seoul office.

Choi leads equities, fixed-income, currency and commodities services at the Seoul office while providing alternative investment opportunities to South Korean institutional investors.

He joined Goldman Sachs in 2010 and was promoted to managing director in 2017. In March of this year, he was appointed co-head of Goldman Sachs' Korea office as the former head Chung Hyung-Jin resigned from the company and moved to lead Hyundai Capital

Before joining Goldman Sachs in 2010, Choi spent four years at Lehman Brothers. Before that, he majored in electrical engineering at Seoul National University and earned an MBA from Duke University.

The Seoul office said Choi will focus on working with corporate finance to provide financial solutions for Korean companies.

The investment bank opened its Korean affiliate in 1992 and has been providing comprehensive financial solutions since 1998. The bank has invested more than $4.7 billion in Korea and is managing around 100 employees in Seoul.
