South Korea’s Korea Ginseng Corp. (KGC) said on Tuesday it recently hosted its second annual conference for large retail pharmacy chains in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The conference was held to promote KGC’s red ginseng brand CheongKwanJang to UAE pharmacies and educate pharmacists.

Pharmacies are the major sales channel of red ginseng in the Middle East. Therefore, the conference focused on educating pharmacists on Korean ginseng’s history, efficacy, nutritional value as well as CheongKwanJang brand and products, KGC said.

KGC has been striving to expand its ginseng sales in the UAE to increase exports to the all of the Middle East.

So far, CheongKwanJang has entered around 200 pharmacies under 10 pharmacy chains in the UAE. Some 10 among the 200 stores operate dedicated sales counters for CheongKwanJang, KGC said.

The Korean firm has accelerated its ginseng sales in the Middle East since late 2020 when it received marketing license approval for red ginseng from the UAE government. Its ginseng products exports to the Middle East in 2021 jumped more than fivefold from the previous year.

Its flagship red ginseng brand HongSamJeong and other ginseng products are gaining popularity in the UAE for immunity and virility, according to KGC.
