Netflix Inc. has entered into a two-year partnership with South Korea's leading post-production studio which creates digital images and mixes sound to make films more vivid and immersive.

Under the partnership effective from July 5, 2021, Dexter Studios and its unit Livetone will cooperate with the global streaming giant in the post-production of Netflix' Korean content, both companies said on Tuesday.

They declined to disclose the value of the contract and other details such as how many pieces of Netflix content Dexter will work for under the partnership, citing a confidentiality agreement.

Post-production includes adding music, dubbing and sound effects, as well as color finishing. Dexter, listed on the junior Kosdaq market, gained a reputation for its visual effect technologies, while its majority-owned Livetone specializes in sound mixing and design.

Both Dexter and Livetone had already participated in the editing portion of Netflix's recent hit series in South Korea, including the blockbuster zombie series Kingdom and sci-fi film, Space Sweepers.

Netflix had spent over 770 billion won ($680 million) producing 80 pieces of Korean original content like TV series and movies for global audiences between 2016 and 2020. This year alone, the over-the-top platform plans to invest about 550 billion won in producing Korean original content of various stories and genres.

Meanwhile, last month, Netflix announced a plan to establish its first live action post-production facility in Mumbai, India.
