Samsung Electronics Co. on Monday announced the global launch of Odyssey Ark, the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen. 1000R refers to the 1,000 millimeter radius of the screen's curvature.
The display delivers a 165Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time (GtG), an all-new Cockpit Mode, and an exclusive controller dubbed the Ark Dial.
Ha Hye-sung, Samsung Electronics' executive vice president of visual display, said the new screen “brings together premium, cinematic picture quality, immersive surround sound and an incredibly flexible interface which gamers increasingly demand.”
The screen was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year and was recognized as a CES Innovation Award Honoree.
The enlarged curvature aims to filling a user’s peripheral vision to provide a more immersive experience.
