South Korea’s Halla Group is changing its corporate name to HL Group as the construction-to-auto parts conglomerate celebrates the 60th anniversary of its founding.

HL, which stands for Halla as well as an abbreviation for "Higher Life," on Thursday unveiled the group’s new logo symbolizing a person walking in strides.

Founded in 1962, HL Group introduced the current Halla brand in 1984 and has been using it for 38 years.

The group’s holding company, Halla Holdings Corp., will be renamed HL Holdings while the names of its two listed affiliates, auto parts maker Mando Corp. and construction firm Halla Corp., will be changed to HL Mando and HL D&I Halla, respectively.

The group’s autonomous driving solutions subsidiary has already changed its name to HL Klemove after combining its two self-driving-related business units, Mando Mobility Solutions Corp. and Mando Hella Electronics Corp., last December.

Klemove is a combination of the words "clever" and "move,” according to the company.

HL Group plans to officially adopt the new brand upon approval at its shareholders' meeting next month, ahead of its foundation day on Oct. 1.
