Kolmar Korea Co., a supplier to global cosmetics brands such as Estee Lauder, is set to enter the 30 trillion won ($22 billion) Halal beauty market in the United Arab Emirates.

The Korean original design manufacturer (ODM) said on Wednesday it has agreed to supply its private-label brand (PB) cosmetics products to the UAE Business Point Consultancy (UAE BPC), a government-backed trade and business institution.

UAE BPC is an organization set up by ESMA, the Middle Eastern country’s standards certification authority.

Kolmar’s cosmetics products will be sold via beauty shops run by UAE BPC.

Kolmar said its products will address skin troubles specific to the dry and hot climate of the Middle East.

The Korean company said it has also built a separate Halal-certified production line at its factories in Sejong and Bucheon to meet UAE standards.

UAE BPC Chairman Abdullah Al-Maini and UAE BPC Chief Executive Ahmed Al Ali on Wednesday visited Kolmar Korea’s headquarters in Sejong to test samples of Kolmar’s PB products and discuss details of their partnership.

"As UAE is the hub country that leads consumption trends in the Middle East, the supply of our PB products will serve as a bridgehead for Kolmar Korea's entry into the Middle East,” said Kolmar Korea Chief Executive Choi Hyung-gyu.
