SK Lubricants Co., the world’s leading lube base oil supplier, said on Sunday it will be rebranded as SK Enmove Co. on Dec. 1.

The new name combines the prefix “en” of environmental-friendly, ensuring and enabling with “movement,” representing the company’s efforts for innovations.

SK Lubricants said the new name will express the firm's will to pursue energy efficiency, while the existing name simply describes its business area.

The company, under Korea’s top refiner SK Innovation Co., will focus on producing premium lube base oil as well as accelerate its new businesses such as lubricants and thermal management for electric vehicles.

The lube-making unit of Korea’s third-largest conglomerate SK Group is proactively boosting its thermal management. In March, SK Lubricants invested $25 million in Green Revolution Cooling Inc. (GRC), a US liquid immersion cooling solutions provider for data centers, to develop its liquid-based thermal management business.
