SK Gas said on Monday that its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) import terminal in Pyeongtaek had achieved a record of no accidents for 28 consecutive years as of 12:00 midnight on Sunday.

The terminal, which has a capacity of storing 200,000 tons of LPG, including 140,000 tons of propane and 60,000 tons of butane, supplies the gas to the metropolitan and central regions of Korea, as well as to overseas destinations such as China.

Since the start of operations in December 1994, there has never been an accident such as an injury, fire, or explosion at the terminal, an SK Gas official said.

Since this year, the company has established a self-diagnosis system covering 580 items in four areas to check the appropriateness of workplace safety rules, members' understanding of these rules and field implementation, and to discover and improve on-site weaknesses.

Yoon Byung-seok, the CEO of SK Gas, said, “We must create a permanent accident-free workplace through stable terminal operations that put our principles into practice.” "We will do our best to reach the global top-tier level in terms of safety, health, and environment," he added.
