LG Electronics Inc. on Sunday said it will build an ambient computing platform as selected by LG AI Research, a company think tank specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), as a key strategic task.

Ambient computing is an intelligent solution that enables AI to recognize and judge a client's situation and condition without user intervention and suggest in advance a specific task to be performed or issue a related alert. For example, the system recommends the optimal temperature and air volume through automatic assessment of a customer's regular pattern of air conditioner use and room temperature.

Related source technology developed by the think tank will be used in all ways for use in the company's products and services.

An LG Electronics source said, "We plan to expand our incorporation of AI into other sectors like digital health care, extended reality and the metaverse as well as core businesses such as home appliances, TVs, electric vehicles and information technology."
