South Korea's SPC Group on Wednesday said it has developed an app for an integrated safety inspection system using information and communications technology used at all of its business sites.

The move is part of the group's strategy to boost safety management after an accident occurred in October last year at the company's bread factory in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

Safety managers at each business site can conveniently manage safety checks and related training of staff at a production facility through the app installed on a tablet PC. Use of a device to read the QR code on each production line and equipment results in the automatic pop-up of a safety checklist that the person in charge must confirm. Easy monitoring of data on safety inspection results and history is also possible.

Among SPC Group's estimated 90 production and distribution centers nationwide, about 50 have adopted the safety system including SPC Samlip Corp., Paris Croissant, SPL, Dunkin and SPC GFS, and more will get it in stages.
