South Korea's financial services company BC Card said on Wednesday that it would seek to enter the Central Asian market this year on the back of its experience in establishing a payment network across Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam.

The credit card company plans to move into the "stan" countries within the first quarter of this year, advancing their national payment systems, while applying various electronic payment technologies such as e-money and QR payments and using different authentication methods such as biometric and simple authentication.

It will also work with government agencies such as the Financial Services Commission, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its financial research center affiliate to identify opportunities in the region's financial markets and move into consulting services.
