South Korean energy ministry and major Korean companies including Hyundai Motor Co., SK E&S, and Korea Zinc Co. participated in the Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Seminar (HFCS) in Long Beach, California, this week, showcasing their hydrogen offerings and growth strategies.

North America's largest hydrogen industry event, HFCS provides a platform for global business exchange and features discussions on hydrogen sector topics and technology displays by more than 70 firms and organizations.

Korea's Trade, Industry and Energy Ministry hosted a public-private investment briefing, where it presented plans to build the world's largest liquefied hydrogen plant in Korea this year and bring commercial hydrogen vehicles to the mass market.

During the host country's representative session, domestic firms such as Hyundai Motor and SK E&S presented their hydrogen products and visions to attendees from businesses and governments worldwide.

Hyundai debuted its Xcient hydrogen truck, selected for California's eco-friendly truck project at ports, while announcing plans to establish a hydrogen commercial vehicle business in North America. The firm has exported 47 of the trucks to Switzerland and will supply another 27 to Germany.

SK E&S aims to enter the Asian market through its joint venture with US partner Plug Power, called SK Plug Hiverse, while Korea Zinc unveiled a project to build a green hydrogen value chain in Australia.
