On Tuesday, Kakao Brain, the AI unit of South Korea's Kakao Corp., announced the development of a new text-based motion generation model, called "FLAME," which uses a super-large AI. The model was created in collaboration with Prof. Choi Seong-jun's lab at Korea University.

Kakao Brain and Prof. Choi's lab jointly submitted a paper to the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, showcasing FLAME's ability to generate natural motion that matches desired text input and can even be modified according to the creator's preferences. The paper received high praise at the conference and was selected for oral presentation.

FLAME is a motion generation model that was developed based on a large language model. Unlike the motion diffusion model presented at the same time, FLAME is able to create high-quality motion even with highly detailed and complex sentence inputs.

Prof. Seong-jun Choi expressed satisfaction with the high praise received for the research results and commented on the positive experience of working with the Kakao Brain team, which has been achieving excellent results in the field of generative AI models in Korea.

Kim Il-doo, Kakao Brain CEO, shared that the introduction of FLAME technology in areas where manual work through motion capture is currently necessary, such as in games, animations and movies, could greatly contribute to task automation and work efficiency improvement.
