CJ Logistics said on Tuesday that it has opened an office in Wroclaw, Poland’s largest industrial city located in the southwest, as part of the strategy to expand its presence in the European logistics market.

The South Korean logistics company plans to offer comprehensive logistics services to multinational companies operating in Europe, including Korean firms.

In December, the company transported 10 units of K-2 Black Panther, Korea’s main battle tanks, to Poland and is also engaged in a new logistics business called the “Europe-oriented new Silk Road,” which involves transporting batteries and automotive parts from China to Poland via the trans-China railway.

CJ Logistics is also providing comprehensive logistics services in conjunction with CJ ICM’s subsidiaries in Germany and Italy. Wroclaw, which is located in southwestern Poland and borders countries such as Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine, is a major logistics hub for the region.

As a traditional manufacturing base in Europe, Poland is home to numerous industries, including automobiles, batteries and electronics. Several Korean companies already have a presence there. In addition, Seoul has recently concluded defense and nuclear power export contracts with Warsaw, which have strengthened economic cooperation.

“Entering Poland is meaningful as it can be a foothold for expanding logistics territory into future logistics industries such as defense and electric car batteries,” said Kang Byung-gu, head of CJ Logistics’ global division.
