CJ Freshway, a South Korean food distributor and food service company, announced on Friday that it has partnered with S&D Company, the operator of the "Green Market" waste cooking oil collection platform, to collect waste cooking oil from its food distribution clients and recycle it as an environmentally friendly raw material.

Through the Green Market mobile app, customers can easily request waste cooking oil collection services at any time and location across the country. The platform sets the price of waste cooking oil based on the market price on the day of collection, facilitating transparent transactions while allowing customers to check their collection status and history at any time.

By digitizing the offline waste oil collection process, Green Market enables customers to receive more transparent and systematic services. CJ Freshway's objective is to enhance the operational efficiency of its foodservice clients by leveraging Green Market to process waste cooking oil and contribute to environmental protection through environment, social, and governance (ESG) activities.

The collected waste cooking oil will be repurposed as an eco-friendly fuel, such as biodiesel, through resource recycling companies that have signed an agreement with Green Market. Biodiesel is recognized for its ability to reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil fuels, such as petroleum.

According to a CJ Freshway official, the company will continue to offer eco-friendly solutions that foster synergies with customers in food distribution and group meal businesses while reinforcing ESG management.
