KT Corp., South Korea's largest telecommunications company, announced the launch of its cloud-based high-performance engineering platform service on Monday. The service is designed to provide manufacturing companies, including automotive, shipbuilding, aviation, machinery and electronics, with an environment to conduct various engineering tests during the R&D, production and design processes.

The cloud-based service allows users to allocate resources as needed, resulting in significant cost savings. According to KT, the initial costs can be reduced by up to 60% compared to directly constructing high-performance computing (HPC) resources. Furthermore, the cloud-based service offers over 10% better performance than a similarly equipped HPC built from scratch.

KT also emphasizes security, implementing a software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN), dedicated lines, and hybrid cloud extension (HCX) to strengthen the security of the lines and prevent critical data leakage, including enterprise design and test results.

"As manufacturing companies increasingly adopt new technologies for digital transformation (DX), we aim to pioneer the cloud engineering platform service market and lead the DX market for manufacturing companies, leveraging our ICT business experience and network capabilities," said Oh Hun-yong, executive vice president of KT's Enterprise Business Division.

KT's launch of its cloud-based engineering platform service signifies the company's continued efforts to drive digital transformation and offer innovative solutions to its customers.
