POSCO Holdings said on Thursday that it has opened a headquarters for POSCO N.EX.T Hub, which will lead the R&D efforts for the entire POSCO Group. The new headquarters, located on the premises of the Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST) in Pohang, will focus on developing artificial intelligence (AI), secondary battery materials and low-carbon hydrogen technology, among others.

Kim Ji-yong, director of POSCO N.EX.T Hub and newly appointed CTO of POSCO Group, will oversee the operations at the new headquarters. "POSCO N.EX.T Hub will become a research institute with global competitiveness by making preemptive investments in core technologies and recruiting excellent talents," said Kim. "We will fulfill our central role in fostering POSCO Group's environmentally-friendly future materials business to a 'Global Top Tier' level."

POSCO N.EX.T Hub plans to complete the R&D hub in the future, collaborating with Pohang's research organizations and undertaking academic exchanges, such as POSTECH, RIST and the radiation accelerator, to promote research cooperation with domestic universities and institutions. Additionally, a venture development and investment organization under POSCO N.EX.T Hub will reside in POSCO's startup incubator, Pohang ChangeUp Ground, supporting the growth and global expansion of resident startup companies.
