An artificial intelligence platform in South Korea has produced a golfing coach that analyzes and diagnoses problems in swing posture and recommends practice methods to fix the flaws.

SK Telecom Co. and Golfzon on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of an AI golf platform that will be unveiled at the SK Telecom Open, which opens on May 18.

SK Telecom will launch the service "AI Human One-point Lesson" connecting the company's AI human know-how with Golfzon Driving Range (GDR) technology at the gallery.

The addition of AI human technology to swing analysis and AI coaching functions provided by GDR will have the same effect as taking lessons in real life, SK Telecom said. The two companies will continue AI technology-based cooperation in golf and introduce new sports services and content.

An amateur golf competition will also mark the collaboration against the backdrop of Jeju Island’s Pinx Golf Club, the venue of the SK Telecom Open, at the Golfzon store there. After qualifying ends on May 14, an offline tournament is slated for May 21 at Golfzon Zoimaru in Daejeon to determine the winner.

"We will discover new growth engines by combining SK Telecom's AI technology with Golfzon's golf platform," said Kim Hyuk, SK Telecom vice president and head of the Global Media Support Office.
