South Korea’s Suprema Inc., an artificial intelligence (AI)-based security company, on Wednesday said it won a large-scale project in Neom, a smart megacity under construction in Saudi Arabia.

Suprema will supply access control solutions to Neom Hospital, which will be built at the city’s construction site. This is another huge order received by the company in the Middle East following last year’s residence project on the artificial island Pearl Qatar in Qatar.

Neom Hospital will cover about 100,000 square meters and cater to the Saudi royal family and VIPs. The facility will use Suprema’s smart central control system CoreStation, radio frequency ID reader XPass D2 and integrated access control security platform BioStar 2.

The order amount and delivery scale were not disclosed, but the purchase of hundreds of units is expected given the hospital’s massive size.

“Neom Villa, an accommodation for high-ranking executives, construction staff and engineers related to the Neom project, is being designed based on Suprema’s access control system and will place orders when its establishment is confirmed,” a Suprema source said.

“Suprema believes that it already has an overwhelming competitive edge on the global market with its biometric-based access control terminals,” Suprema CEO Kim Han-chul said.

“Demand for and adoption of the integrated security platform BioStar 2 are steadily increasing. So based on this, we will strive to further grow as a provider of integrated security platforms and access control systems and reinforce our rank on the global market.”
