Cuchen links rice cookers to Samsung Electronics’ IoT

South Korea’s kitchen appliance maker Cuchen on Monday said it will link two rice cookers possessing Internet of Things (IoT) technology to Samsung Electronics Co. ’s smart home platform SmartThings.

SmartThings connects household appliances such as TVs, air conditioners, rice cookers, range hoods, air purifiers, lighting and ventilation systems that support IoT communication standards. Users can conveniently check and control device status anywhere with a smartphone.

The Cuchen rice cookers linked with SmartThings is Triple and 121ME. 

Consumers can remotely set and control cooking, warming, reheating, preset and automatic cleaning functions from outside. Making about 60 kinds of rice and dishes such as cooked rice, porridge and baby food are also possible.

Users must download the mobile app Cuchen On and register a Cuchen IoT rice cooker device. From Wednesday, the artificial intelligence platform Bixby will enable remote control of the cookers.

“We are the first rice cooker company to offer a service linked to SmartThings,” a Cuchen source said.
