Hyundai Motor Group announced on Monday that it held an opening ceremony for the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Quality Verification Center (E-CQV) at the Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC) headquarters in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province.

The group and KTC plan to operate the EV charging quality assurance scheme starting from the end of this year.

E-CQV aims to establish a reliable certification system for charging station quality, contribute to the expansion of trustworthy charging station availability for consumers and ultimately enhance the convenience of electric vehicle charging.

The EV charging quality certification system comprises five standardized quality evaluation criteria; charger durability and reliability, actual charging performance, security, communication compatibility, and electromagnetic compatibility. It will apply to all manufacturers and charging service providers to ensure public interest and nature.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to incorporate the quality verification system and quality management know-how acquired through the development and operation of the E-pit high-speed charging station, as well as the result of certification criteria in collaboration with KTC, into the electric vehicle charging quality certification system.

It also plans to establish various services to secure the quality of the electric vehicle charging ecosystem.

KTC will provide the site, equipment, and facilities for E-CQV. It will be responsible for conducting certification tests, issuing certification documents, and overseeing the overall operation of the electric vehicle charging quality certification system.

E-CQV aims to provide integrated legal certification services for the global electric vehicle market, including North America and Europe. The goal is to shorten the time and reduce the costs for charging station manufacturers to obtain certification.
