Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI), South Korea's sole military aircraft manufacturer, participated in the 74th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from Oct. 2 to 6, to launch marketing efforts for its first satellite exports targeting the European and Middle Eastern markets.

At the exhibition, KAI showcased its next-generation medium-sized satellites capable of accommodating various payloads, as well as small-sized satellites. The next-generation medium-sized satellite is considered a key component of satellite export bids due to its versatility, which it shares with nano-satellites.

In particular, the 500 kg-class next-generation medium-sized satellite can mount various payloads such as optical, radar, infrared and spectrometers on the satellite's main body. It has received recognition for its competitiveness in terms of cost and performance compared to satellites of similar classes from other countries.

Small-sized satellites, based on the satellite integration solutions developed by KAI, can enable rapid weather forecasting and disaster prevention when integrated with existing larger satellites.

During this exhibition, KAI engaged in marketing activities to collaborate with European and Middle Eastern countries planning satellite projects in the space sector. Additionally, the company representatives held meetings with senior officials from space agencies of various countries to explore potential new market demands.

IAC is an international academic and exhibition event co-organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and International Institute of Space Law (IISL).

This year, representatives from over 90 countries and more than 150 organizations and companies, including the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, China, Japan, Turkey, Poland, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, participated in the event.
