South Korea’s Hankook & Company Group, formerly Hankook Tire Group, is expanding to robotics to raise its future competitiveness.

The group's affiliate Model Solution Co. on Monday said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Neubility, a Seoul-based autonomous robot service startup, on cooperation in robotics.

Founded in 2017, Neubility offers an integrated package of robot delivery solutions like self-driving robots, related monitoring systems and order delivery applications. Its key technologies include its own know-how in camera-based positioning and sensor fusion, object and 3D recognition based on deep learning, and decision control.

Both companies will collaborate in all robotics-related areas.

By expanding its robotics unit, a sector deemed a future growth engine, to autonomous robots, Model Solution seeks to emerge as a one-stop service for design and hardware development and the production process.
