Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), the South Korean state-run utility company, and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) have agreed to collaborate on new business areas, including the development of next-generation power grids and new technologies to address the climate crisis.

During his meetings with key Vietnamese officials, President Kim introduced KEPCO's research achievements and demo cases of new technologies such as the Intelligent Digital Power Plant (IDPP), the Substation Equipment Diagnostic & Analysis System (SEDA), and the next-generation Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

KEPCO exchanged a letter of intent with the Thanh Hóa provincial government, where KEPCO's first power generation project in Vietnam, the Nghi Son thermal power plant, is located, to explore new business cooperation opportunities.

KEPCO is building and operating power generation projects in Vietnam with a total capacity of 2,400 megawatts.

This accounts for about 7.3% of Vietnam's private power generation sector and covers a significant portion of the power demand in northern Vietnam, including Hanoi.
