Samsung SDS Co., the information technology service unit of Samsung Group, said on Tuesday it plans to launch its AI service FabriX on Microsoft Corp.’s cloud computing platform Azure to broaden its user base globally.

During its annual tech conference, Real Summit 2024, held in Seoul, Chief Executive Hwang Sung-woo said FabriX will be available on Microsoft Azure – a move that will benefit clients of both Azure and FabriX.

Mark Souca, Microsoft’s chief operating officer and the US tech firm’s Asia corporate vice president, confirmed the news via video conference.

The South Korean IT service provider plans to launch the integrated FabriX-Microsoft Azure service in the US and other countries as early as next month.

Industry officials said a successful launch would lay the groundwork for Samsung to go global with its generative AI platform.

According to Samsung, FabriX is a cloud-based generative AI service that connects IT resources such as diverse enterprise data, knowledge assets and work systems – to generative AI, to help employees conveniently share and use such resources.

Samsung SDS unveiled FabriX, which offers AI services based on a large language model (LLM) such as ChatGPT and Naver Corp.'s HyperCLOVA X, earlier this year.

At Real Summit 2024, Samsung showed off actual cases of companies such as Samsung Life Insurance Co., Paradise Group and Woongjin Co. using FabriX to improve their business efficiency.

BRITY COPILOT

At this year’s forum, Samsung also showcased its generative AI-based Brity Copilot, an automated digital assistant that facilitates business processes such as email, messaging, meetings and document management.

With Brity Copilot’s real-time subtitle and translation feature, Samsung said corporate clients can enhance the efficiency of various corporate tasks, such as multilingual conference translation services.

Samsung SDS said it is already utilizing Brity Copilot in its workplaces, which has led to significant time savings for office work such as composing emails and summaries.

The company said Korean and foreign clients that use its Brity services include Vietnam's CMC Group, Daesang Wellife Co., Korea’s Rural Development Administration, Korean Air Lines Co. and LIG Nex1 Co.

“We expect FabriX and Brity to be applied to the financial sector for services such as investment risk management and fraud prevention,” said Hong Sun-gi, vice president of Samsung Life, at Real Summit 2024.
