South Korea’s Daedong Mobility on Monday announced its hosting of an interactive event featuring two docent chair robots with self-driving and remote control functions at Daegu Museum of Art in Daegu.

The robot at this event, which runs through Oct. 6, is based on a self-driving model that Daedong tested last year. With a maximum carrying capacity of 130 kg and an app that can remotely control it, the device can move up to 2 km per hour in autonomous driving mode and up to 10 km per hour if operated manually.

When a visitor uses a tablet PC attached to a robot to select a work, the latter creates an optimal viewing path and moves in a self-driving manner. The visitor can listen to a description of the piece from the robot while it moves.

Daegu City Hall and the museum prepared this event to promote exhibitions and viewings for the mobility impaired.
