South Korea’s shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries said on Monday it won 379.6 billion won ($264 million) for one unit of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from an Oceania shipping company.

This is the company's first order of 2025. The LNG carrier will be delivered by June 2027. 

According to shipbuilding market research firm Clarkson Research, the average price of LNG carriers is currently $258 million.

Samsung Heavy Industries' contract is 5.4 billion won higher than the average price.

Samsung Heavy Industries' LNG carrier has a backlog of 84 vessels valued at $19.1 billion.
