SK Telecom Co. and KT Corp. received the Leading Lights Awards 2024.

SK Telecom and KT were named winners of Outstanding Use Case: AI/Machine Learning and Company of the Year respectively.

The Leading Lights is Light Reading's flagship awards program. It's well-known in the global telecom operating and services market.

SK Telecom said on Wednesday that it won this award based on its research and development (R&D) achievements in reducing smartphone power consumption using on-device AI technology.

SK Telecom developed a technology that uses on-device AI to predict whether data will be generated within a certain period and optimally control the connection between the device and the base station based on the prediction results.
