South Korea's SK Shieldus Co. said on Wednesday that it entered a strategic partnership with the US-based telecom company Verizon.

Under this partnership, the two companies will leverage their security expertise to collaborate on various fronts, including rapid global incident response, advanced remote security monitoring services, joint provision of mock-up intrusion testing, and vulnerability assessment services.

The companies plan to establish a joint incident response system to address the increasingly complex security landscape and sophisticated threats.

In security incidents affecting manufacturing companies operating factories or subsidiaries abroad, SK Shieldus will handle the domestic response while Verizon provides services overseas.

The two companies will also enhance their remote security monitoring services by sharing operational expertise and technology from their respective security operations centers (SOCs).

At SK Shieldus’s SOC, big data processing technologies collect and process 8 trillion threats annually, 7.9 billion threats daily, and 250,000 threats per second. AI technology is used to analyze more than 50,000 threats daily.

Given that Verizon operates the world’s largest telecommunications network, SK Shieldus is expected to benefit from sharing Verizon's vast threat intelligence, allowing for more accurate threat data analysis and monitoring.

The partnership will also see the cross-provision of services such as mock-up intrusion testing and vulnerability assessments globally, with both companies aiming to enhance their security capabilities by sharing their business networks.

SK Shieldus has secured clients across various industries in South Korea, while Verizon provides services to Fortune 500 companies and governments, promising synergy from the collaboration.
