LG Electronics Inc. said on Monday it's advancing its in-cabin sensing solution which detects and analyzes the interior of vehicles to prevent accidents, in collaboration with Korea Expressway Corporation.

LG Electronics Vehicle Component Solutions Research Center signed a business agreement to research preventing accidents with the Korea Expressway Corp. Research Institute last Thursday.

Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate to enhance technology that detects and prevents traffic accidents caused by driver negligence, such as drowsy driving and mobile phone use.

LG Electronics is developing a next-generation in-cabin sensing solution that detects driver negligence and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to recognize the driver's face and automatically adjust the seat, climate control, and lighting.

Drivers will be able to control functions without touching the vehicle display by using voice control, eye-tracking technology, and hand gestures.

LG Electronics and the Korea Expressway Corporation Research Institute will apply driver response data, tested with the latter's driving simulator, to LG's in-cabin sensing solution.
