Kakao Brain, an artificial intelligence (AI) R&D subsidiary of South Korea's Kakao Corp., revealed its latest AI image generation model Karlo 2.0.

It can draw images within a mere three-second timeframe.

Trained on an extensive dataset comprising about 300 million texts and images, Karlo 2.0 serves as a powerful AI tool that can create high-quality images based on textual descriptions.

Kakao Brain evaluated the model as possessing an exceptional capacity to generate polished images, leveraging its globally recognized language comprehension capabilities.

Notably, the AI powerhouse can accurately interpret complex prompts and commands, allowing it to comprehend and depict intricate details such as "A cat has light blue eyes."

With a maximum resolution of 2048x2048, Karlo 2.0 offers users the flexibility to work with various image sizes, enabling the creation of intricate and immersive visual representations.

The model's proficiency in capturing spatial depth, 3D, and intricate textures like animal fur contributes to the production of lifelike, high-quality images.

Moreover, the AI artist showcases versatility by reproducing diverse artistic styles, including the coveted "modern artist" aesthetic. Additionally, compared to its predecessor, Karlo 1.4, the latest model exhibits significantly improved image generation speed, empowering users to create desired visuals in a swift three-second timeframe.

In a bid to foster the growth of the domestic AI ecosystem, Kakao Brain has unveiled the Karlo 2.0 open application programming interface (API) on Kakao Developers, a platform that offers Kakao's services to developers.

Karlo 2.0 outshines its predecessor by allowing the generation of images in various sizes and proportions. The model's advanced prompt comprehension is augmented by a Negative Prompt feature, empowering users to control expressions or keywords that should be excluded during the image generation process.

With the introduction of the Karlo 2.0 open API, Kakao Brain has significantly expanded the monthly limit of free generated images from 500 to an impressive 600,000.

This expansion represents the largest-scale free image generation opportunity globally, catering to general start-up companies and developers.
