South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering & Construction on Tuesday said it ranks 11th in the world in overseas sales in the annual rankings of international builders by ENR, an American construction and engineering magazine.

The company’s finish was the highest since its 2011 incorporation into Hyundai Motor Group.

ENR annually ranks global builders based on business performance, with its international category based on overseas sales excluding domestic serving as a barometer of the overseas construction market.

Hyundai E&C's international sales last year grew 18.6% from 2021 to $6.8 billion out of $16.7 billion in overall revenue, ranking 11th in the world. The company's rank also jumped two places from 13th last year.

By region, the company was in the top 10 in the Middle East (third) and Asia (fifth) and by sector, it placed sixth in petrochemicals and fifth in power generation. It also put back on track massive projects like the Marjan Development Program in Saudi Arabia, Southern Urban Railway in the Philippines and Panama Metro Line 3 in the Central American country.

This year, Hyundai E&C landed the Amiral project to build a petrochemical complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and a venture to build high-voltage direct current transmission lines connecting the western city of Yanbu to the new northwestern urban area of Neom. The company has 16 projects in this country alone, including the Saudi Neom Rail Tunnel.
