Samsung Electronics Co., the world’s top TV manufacturer, said on Sunday it is enjoying strong demand for new TVs, especially premium ultra-large models, equipped with artificial intelligence.
Samsung said preorders for its 2024 TV lineup in the two weeks beginning March 1 have tripled those for models ordered last year between Feb. 21 and March 8, 2023, without giving further details such as volumes.
“Preorders for ultra-large models, which are larger than 85 inches, nearly quadrupled compared to last year,” said a Samsung official.
The company said AI contributed to such strong demand. Its latest models are embedded with its
AI technology, which turns low-resolution video into 8K ultra-high-resolution content by finding and filling in the proper colors and contrasts of low-quality images’ empty pixels.
Premium models such as the top-line
Neo QLED 8K are equipped with the third-generation AI 8K processor for the function.
Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone
Galaxy S24 series packed with a variety of AI features also
sold more than 1 million units in South Korea in only 28 days since its launch.
Sales of the Bespoke AI Washer & Dryer Combo,
its newest all-in-one washer and dryer machine, topped 3,000 units in two weeks of its release thanks to its AI functions.
